Shortly after his diagnosis and receiving the news that his cancer was terminal, Jamie got married in November 2017. Some of the clothing bought for the wedding came from the online retail giant ASOS who delivered the order very quickly, ensuring the wedding could go ahead as planned. Jamie and his new wife sent a thank you card to ASOS, who then tracked them down and invited Jamie to London at their expense to visit their offices. They treated him to dinner and took him to see The Lion King in the West End. They have now gone even further and dedicated a range of socks to him - the Jamie Robert Collection (Jamie's full name is Jamie Robert Arnold - Robert after his 'gramps'). In addition, ASOS made a donation to a charity called “Young Enterprise” that helps support young people that have fallen off the track to get their second chance.
At the beginning of this year at ASOS we received a thank you card from a lady who just gave her surname. The card said thank you to our company that she was able to organise her wedding outfits in 3 days because her partner at 29 years old had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and was not given many weeks to live. My CEO allowed me to use my investigating skills to track the couple down because we were all so moved by their story and we wanted to do something for them. I had the pleasure of meeting an extremely positive, kind young man who really touched my heart. The last conversation we had he told me how he loved bright coloured chinos with patterned socks and how ASOS socks weren’t the best.

Jamie sadly passed away 5 days after his visit to ASOS but today we did something which I’m extremely proud of to fulfil something that I hope Jamie would of have loved.
A range of socks called “The Jamie Robert Collection” have gone live using his favourite 2 colours - kelly green and banana yellow.
We’ve also made a private donation to a charity called “Young Enterprise” that helps support young people that have fallen off the track to get their second chance. A cause that Jamie felt so passionate about.
I would like to thank ASOS on behalf of myself and all of Jamie's family, for treating him so well, giving him an amazing day which he throughly enjoyed, it made him very happy, and now dedicating this range of socks to him. He would love this!
The Lion King was special to Jamie, it was his favourite movie when he was little. Jamie's mum and I had separated by the time it was released and I wasn't living with them. I took Jamie to see the movie, it was just the two of us, Jamie was just 6, the movie was released 3 days after his 6th birthday. I can clearly remember sitting near the front in the Regal Cinema in Northwich and at the scene when Simba's Father, Mufasa, died, Jamie cried and he said to me "I don't want you to die daddy!" :'( The day before he passed away Jamie and I talked on our own for an hour and a half. During that chat I asked him if he enjoyed seeing The Lion King in London and if he remembered me taking him to see the movie when he was 6. He said "Yes of course I remember, that's why it was so special!"
